Every Saturday my husband and young son would take trash to the the local dump and next door was the county animal shelter. While my husband emptied the trash, my son would visit the animals. . Robert knew we would not get a rescue because we had registered cocker spaniel. But one Saturday in February 2001, that changed. He came home frantic that 2 puppies would be put down on Monday if not adopted.
After many tears and much discussion, Zorro came into our life (and his sister to my brother). He was so small and weak, I wasn't sure he would survive the night. But he did and soon changed our heart and our preferred breed. We love them all but there has never been another like him and we will never forget him.
